KENOSHA FIRST B 2024
Just like Milwaukee First two years ago…there is finally a competition in Kenosha! Normally, I don’t go up north to Wisconsin very often because it’s too long of a drive, yet too close for a plane flight. However, this competition was hosted at Carthage College—which is not only pretty close to our home, but a beautiful campus as well! I also learned that my friends Max and Henry—whom I met at Ackermann Spring—go to high school very close to mine. It’s cool to meet cubers that are not only fast, but are also my age. We all had a lot of common interests and humor, which is nice because it’s sometimes difficult to build strong connections with strangers/people you rarely spend time around. Most cubers in the Midwest Area are either super young or in their later college years, which always feels a bit awkward being in the middle. While I’m pretty disappointed with most of my performances, I shocked myself with a huge personal best in the Megaminx! Unfortunately, it was not enough to make the (already generous) cutoff, but I’m still happy with the time considering how much effort it takes to solve the Megaminx. It’s like solving the first two layers of a 3x3—but you have to make around 20 pairs instead of only four. Onto 2025!
